Hundreds of people enjoyed a day with furry friends at the Bunbury Wildlife Park as part of City of Bunbury's Grandfamilies Day on Wednesday April 14.
With entertainment for the whole family, the event included live shows, face painting, a climbing wall, roving performers, food vans and a drumming circle.
The event was jam packed for the school holidays with a host of local service stalls offering information on local family related services in Bunbury.
Nanna Patty Bryant was at the event and said she spends as much time as possible with her grandchildren Poppie, Caidence and Tallon.
"It takes a village to raise a family so it's important for kids to grow up with their extended relatives," Ms Bryant said.
She told the Mail that her family had made splattered paint t-shirts the night before to wear to the Grandfamilies Day and that every year they all took a photo at the tree at the Bunbury Wildlife Park.
Helen and Richard Pennington had driven down from Perth to surprise their grandson, Wesley Abolis.
"It's very special to come down and spend this time with Wesley, as a family it's so important to our grandys. It's terrific also to see so many grandparents at this event, I'm really amazed by the crowd." Mrs Pennington said.
The event highlighted the importance of the relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren.
