WHEN it comes to scenic spots Australia is spoilt for choice.
And photographers need not look much further than NSW's Northern Beaches.
We called out for the #NorthernBeachesBestSpot photos on Instagram and were flooded with tags showing off the best locations in the Beaches.
Sunsets and sunrises were a predominant feature, with the vast majority of photos taken along our beaches and near the rockpools. Here's a selection of some of the best.

"This photo was taken at sunset from the southern end of Manly Beach. My aim with taking this photo was to show the beauty of Manly and help to promote this wonderful location in my own way. This is a favourite spot for locals and tourists alike and with views like this, it's easy to see why.
"I love Manly and as a local photographer it is one of my favourite areas to photograph as it always looks good from any angle at any time of the day. When I think of Manly, I think of the long golden strip of sand and those beautiful iconic Norfolk Island Pines. On the evening this image was taken there was some interesting cloud around. I knew a spot that would allow me to capture the cloud as it changed colour at sunset, as well as include those beautiful pine trees. As a bonus just before the photo was taken all the street lights came on along the beach. As this photo was taken with a thirty second exposure, the reflections of the lights in the water really helped to make the photo more interesting."

"I live in Warriewood and spend most of my time either at the Narrabeen Ocean Pool, Warriewood Beach or Mona Vale Ocean Pool to capture sunrises on the beaches. I have also started learning to use a drone.
"Our local beaches are quiet and peaceful in the mornings - it's a great way to start the day and I usually try and create an Instagram story by 8am to share what I have captured. When I go out to shoot a sunrise, I always see something different - either the clouds, the waves, the reflections, the light - two mornings at the same location are never the same.
"Photography is my passion. It allows me to capture the world around me from a personal perspective and I hope that brings pleasure to others when they see my photos."
- Where: North Narrabeen Rockpool
- Photographer: Donna Peirce
- On Instagram: @for_the_love_of_photos_2101
"I'll often head down to Narrabeen from Elanora which is where I live, to catch the morning sunrise. This is one of my favorite spots, there are so many different angles of the pool you can photograph, and even on a cloudy day it still looks beautiful. Photography has been a hobby of mine for many years, but more recently in the last 12 months I have loved getting up to shoot the sunrise as often as I can, there is always beauty in every sunrise."
- Where: Dee Why Rockpool
- Photographer: Lee Smith
- On Instagram: @my_photos_are_my_paintings
"This photo was taken at Dee Why ocean pool. It was a day when the colours just popped. It went from vivid red, to pink, to orange and finally as the sun rose, yellow. I looks like someone has sprinkled pink jelly crystals on the pool.
"Everywhere on the northern beaches are favourite spots but I probably take more photos in and around Dee Why, more so than anywhere else, because I live in Dee Why. I can be sitting at home, not going to go to the beach, then the sky will light up, and I can't resist, I can be at Dee Why Beach within five minutes."
- Where: South Curl Curl Rockpool
- Photographer: Fred Thorpe
- On Instagram: @manly_weather_watch
"South Curl Curl ocean is one of my favourites. The colours are rich and give you that immediate feeling of summer days.
"I have been photographing the northern beaches for 30 years and there is always something new to see. My name is Fred Thorpe, I am a woman, I am from Manly, and I feel blessed to live here."
- Where: Narrabeen
- Photographer: Bruce Felton
- On Instagram: @shotzbybruce
"I chose this spot because I grew up in Narrabeen and it will always be home to me. I was hoping to catch the beauty of Narrabeen. I love photography because it captures the beauty of amazing planet Earth."
- Where: Warriewood Beach Headland
- Photographer: Robyn Connacher
- On Instagram: @robsthroughmyeyes
"I call this The Splash. I was capturing the reflections but the wave was trying to get attention."
- Where: Manly
- Photographer: Kate Albert
- On Instagram: @katesbytheocean
"I love shooting Manly mornings and the storm pipes are an iconic part of the beach. I live in North Balgowlah, so not far from my favourite photography spots - Manly, Curl Curl, Narrabeen and Avalon.
"I got into sunrise / sunset photography only a couple of years ago after one sunrise shoot at Fairy Bower Pool got me hooked. Every day, I obsessively check the forecast and the sky to work out if the sunrise or sunset is going to be a stunner. Then I rush out and decide where to go based on where the clouds are. I love a cloud reflection on wet sand, so I try to pick the best spot. I am constantly stunned by the beauty of the sky - it honestly makes me smile when the colours glow and the clouds light up. I think we are so lucky to live where we do - and it's great to share the beauty with other local photographers and people far and wide around the world.
- Where: Narrabeen Lagoon
- Photographer: Nicole McKenzie

"Looking very relaxed, a beer while fishing on Narrabeen Lagoon."
