BUNBURY-based transport provider Go West has been sold to SeaLink Travel Group in a deal totalling over $100 million.
Founded by Stan Haoust in 1981, Go West began with just a single bus and a desk made out of a door resting on two, 44 gallon drums.
The transport company is a Western Australian provider of charter, rental and tour vehicles to the resources and public transit sectors.
Filling more than 500,000 seats monthly, Go West has had rapid growth over it's years operating in mining hubs such as Port Hedland, Newman and Karratha.
Go West Founder and Director Stan Haoust said with the support of SeaLink Travel Group, Go West will continue to grow well into the future.
"As fellow operators supporting the resources sector, SeaLink will enable Go West to continue to tackle bigger projects," Mr Haoust said.
As one of Australia's largest transport providers, SeaLink's holdings include Captain Cook Cruises, SeaLink Rottnest Ferries and Swan Transit.
SeaLink Travel Group Chief Executive Officer Clint Feuerherdt said Go West had valuable contract counterparties and delivered an essential service for their clients.
"The operations of Go West were unaffected by the pandemic and continued at near 100 per cent levels throughout, keeping their communities and worksites connected," Mr Feuerherdt said.
In a deal coordinated by Perth-based accounting firm BDO, the Haoust family will continue to operate the business post sale.
Mr Haoust said it was important that SeaLink aligns with Go West's ethos of Family Spirit, Frugality, Adaptiveness, Innovation and Safety.
