BUNBURY Golf Club Champion Tim Gilotti will compete for the win in the 2021 Nexus South West Open, after only just missing out on the 2019 title.
Running over Saturday June 5 and Sunday June 6, the Nexus South West Open boasts a 36 hole stroke play and attracts golfers from all over Australia to compete in three divisions of professionals, leading amateur and leading junior.
As current Club Champion of the Bunbury Golf Club, Gilotti said his goal was to win the leading amateur division after coming close to the win multiple times.
"You have to play fairly well on the first day to get ahead for day two. I've been close a couple of times, but seemed to stumble towards the end. I want to win the low am this year," Gilotti said.
Out of almost 40 elite amateur's, Gilotti is competing for the Jim Barr Medal at the Open alongside other members from the Bunbury Golf Club, including current Club Professional Craig Reynolds.
Having started playing golf at just four-years-old, Gilotti received the coveted title of Club Champion last year and also holds the title of Country Champion after winning at Country Week in Perth in both 2019 and 2020.
"I play a lot of golf. I get out a couple of times a week to practice and work with a coach over east. I also have a golf simulator at home that I use to practice."
Gilotti said the Bunbury Golf Club was great to be a part of and that he enjoyed the one off events that required the Club members to play as a team.
"It's a great group of people. It's usually a solo game that's just about you and the golf course. I'm very competitive, but it's about being accountable for yourself. The time and effort you put in is what you're going to be rewarded with."
