As part of the events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Ballaarat steam engine, the Busselton Naturaliste Club will be hosting a walk down the train tracks through Tuart Forest.
The walk will take place on Saturday, August 21, participants will meet at Wonnerup House for a 7.5 kilometre walk along Ruabon Road, which was the old railway line from Tutunup into Wonnerup.
The walk will cross over the Bussell Highway and follow through a section of Tuart Forest for the last 2.5 kms.
Busselton Naturaliste Club president Bernie Masters said if people arrived at Wonnerup House just before 9am a bus would take people to the start of the walk.
Mr Masters said the bus had a capacity for 57 people and would make multiple trips if more people joined the walk.
"We can take as many as we like," he said.
"Most of it is very easy walking and certainly dead flat, it should take no more than three hours, most people will probably do it in about two.
"The walk is open to the public, anyone is welcome to come along and because it is such an easy walk it is well suited to families with children.
"The walk will be along the old Ballaarat route, there is a section that is completely water logged and goes through wetland.

"Luckily it was built up to be high and dry but there will be water on either side of the track, so people will understand the difficulties that were inherent in laying a railway line back in the 1870's.
"There will be a section of the Tuart Forest most people do not walk, so they will see the forest in pretty reasonable condition but with a lot of under story weed such as the arum lily.
"The other benefit is people will be able to pick as many arum lily flowers as they like.
"It is just an easy morning walk."
