A humpback whale was frolicking with dolphins in the water off Point Piquet near Dunsborough on WA's southwest coastline on the morning of August 4, 2021.
Geographe Marine Research director Ian Wiese captured the image and said that they have recently spotted about five to six whales a day.
"They all seem to be juveniles, and not migrating whales," he said.
"The weather has been so bad that it is difficult to see them unless they are very active. The last two days have been beautiful - sun at last."

Over the next few months around 34,000 whales will pass through Geographe Bay as they make their annual migration to Antarctica.
During the migration, Geographe Bay plays host to one of the largest populations of humpback whales in the world. Blue whales, minke whales and southern right whales will also pass through on their southern migration.
In 2019, whale researchers found evidence of a southern right whale nursery in the bay.
