A Bunbury media teacher has been awarded the 2021 Cinesnaps Teacher of the Year at CinefestOz Film Festival on August 26.
Glen Strindberg, who has taught at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School for the past 11 years, was nominated for the award by the Cinesnaps school program organisers.
The 2021 winners were selected based on their contribution to the Festival, along with their involvement with the CineSnaps School Program and their contribution to the students.
With a passion for both the media industry and teaching, Mr Strindberg said media wasn't just a 'subject' to him.
"I believe in order to be an effective teacher you have to be involved in that subject. Communication skills are a key for any teacher but working in the media industry allowed me to refine those skills and keep my knowledge relevant.
"I am used to being behind the lens, not on a stage. So to have someone introduce you and explain to a crowd your achievements and background was very humbling."
"The saying 'those who can't do, teach' infuriates me as I look at it as rather 'those who inspire, teach!" Mr Strindberg said.
