The parents of eight-year-old Sol, whose body was recovered from Fernhook Falls near Walpole after a suspected drowning, have remembered their son for his kind personality and heart.
"Sol was much loved by his parents, his brothers and his community," Sol's parents wrote in their statement.
"Our deepest thanks go to the police, emergency services, community volunteers and civilian contractors.
"We acknowledge the many individuals who gave everything in extreme conditions to recover our boy.
"We would also like to thank our friends and family for their comfort and support."
Sol was located by a search team on Friday morning, October 15 and a complex operation commenced to safely recover his body.
He was recovered from the water by Police divers on October 17.
The family's statement ended with a plea for time to grieve their son.
"We now ask that you respect our privacy."
