TWO lucky recipients have received funding for their very own, modified bikes, thanks to a charity ride completed in August.
Fundraiser creator Elliot Mason rode over 500 kilometres through Murchison, Western Australia in August to raise money for the bikes.
Through his fundraiser, Mr Mason was able to present two, $3,000 vouchers to Mad Cycles Bunbury, to recipients Amelia Hutchins and Liam Shephard on Tuesday, October 26.
Both Ms Hutchins and Mr Shephard will be able to use their vouchers to choose from any of the available bicycles at Mad Cycles to be altered to suit their personal requirements.
Mr Mason, who has down syndrome, was given a pedal-assisted electric bike 12 months ago which greatly improved his own mental health.
His 'Ride for a Reason' fundraising campaign followed his training in preparation for his ride which allowed him to raise funds for others with disabilities to purchase their own adapted bicycles.
He is a strong advocate for others with a disability to get active and get outdoors, to improve mental health, breathe some fresh air and put focus and energy into something with health benefits.
