Police are on the hunt for a suspected firebug following four grass and bushland fires on Victoria's coastline.

Investigators are treating four fires in the Wonthaggi area as suspicious and say it is lucky no one has been injured or structures damaged by fire.

Victoria is currently in the middle of a heatwave, but has had a relatively quiet bushfire season over the summer so far.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
