Charges upgraded to murder after Bunbury stabbing
A MAN charged over a stabbing death at the South West Sports Centre earlier this month has had his charges upgraded to murder today.
Eighteen-year-old Langford man Jayden Cale Delany appeared in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court today via video link.
His charges of grievous bodily harm were upgraded to murder following a post-mortem examination of the victim, 22-year-old Calvin Beeston.
Delany was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrate’s Court in Perth later this month.
In an unrelated matter, thirty-three-year-old Kelvin Fattar Khan also appeared in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court today charged over the fatal stabbing of Grahem Wallam in a Brunswick home just 48 hours after the first death.
Khan was remanded in custody and will appear at the Bunbury Magistrate’s Court on March 19.
Bunbury man fatally stabbed in South West Sports Centre car park
POLICE have charged an 18-year-old Langford man following the stabbing of 22-year-old Calvin Beeston in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The man was charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear at the Bunbury Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The charge may be upgraded following the post mortem examination.
Calvin Beeston suffered a single stab wound to the chest in the fight in the car park of the centre.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at 3am. Mr Beeston was rushed to Bunbury Regional Hospital, but was unable to be saved.
Police closed roads into the centre this morning, and combed the car park for clues.
It is understood several items, including a knife, were recovered.
House party incident
Police are investigating reports that the fight, between gangs of youths, was sparked after a minor incident at a party at a house in Minninup.
There are reports that youths 'tagged' or graffitied a mirror in the house, sparking the altercation.
