POLICE have confirmed that the body found in sand dunes at Mindalong Beach was that of Desmond Dean Cossey, who was reported missing on Thursday morning.
A spokesperson from police media said the circumstances behind Mr Cossey's death were not suspicious.
Mr Cossey was reported missing after failing to return home from a bike ride on Wednesday morning. He left his home riding a bike at around 8.45am.
At a police press conference on Thursday afternoon Inspector Richard Moore said a member of the public located the bike at the Mindalong Beach car park at around 9.30am on Thursday morning, following the missing persons report.
The bike was taken to Bunbury Police Station where it was identified as Mr Cossey's.
Police, City of Bunbury rangers and State Emergency Service volunteers then commenced a search of Mindalong beach and around noon an aboriginal tracker assisting the search found the body of a man in the sand dunes.
Family members were told a body had been discovered in relation to the search on Thursday and identified the body as Mr Cossey's.
