THE Bunbury Chicken Treat store at the centre of the caustic soda laced chips scandal has reopened for business however, the investigation into the alleged poisoning incident continues.

The City of Bunbury released a statement on Tuesday which said it believed the store had re-opened for business on Monday night.
“The City of Bunbury Environment Health Services team have inspected the Chicken Treat store at the Homemaker Centre and are satisfied that the agreed food safety actions have been implemented," Chief Executive Officer Andrew Brien said.
"Chicken Treat has now been given approval to reopen, however an investigation into the incident that occurred on the 22nd May continues.
"The City believes Chicken Treat reopened for business last night.”
It has been reported that 11 people became sick after they ate chips from a Chicken Treat outlet at the Homemaker Centre where caustic soda was mistaken for salt.
South West Detectives are conducting an investigation which involves examining all of the available evidence and speaking to anyone who can help with inquiries.
This has included staff, witnesses and those affected after eating the food.
Police would particularly like to speak again to the anonymous female who called Bunbury Police on Wednesday night regarding the incident.
Police urge her to call again via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Anyone who was affected after eating the food or who can assist in this investigation is also asked to call Crime Stoppers.
The store general manager has declared that the customers who allegedly ate caustic soda-laced chips deserve answers.
“That will include further consultation with police and all relevant local authorities,” Mr Scodellaro said.
“We have continued to assist Bunbury Police with their investigation and senior company managers have travelled to Bunbury to meet with city health authorities.
“I have also had the opportunity to speak with some of the customers affected on Wednesday night and I have assured them all avenues of investigation are being pursued.”
Mr Scodellaro said the customers “deserve answers and we are working hard to provide them.”
