A pilot has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after his plane crashed at Geraldton airport.
Police were called to the scene near Moonyoonooka, 360 kilometres north of Perth, shortly before 4pm, where the six-seater Cessna was on fire.
Air transport officials have confirmed that only the pilot was on board the aircraft. His identity has not been released.
He was taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital with serious injuries, including burns.
Officials from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services put out the fire and helped police to free the pilot from the wreckage.
St John Ambulance crew were also called to the scene.
A police spokesperson said the cause of the crash and the type of aircraft involved were unknown.
A spokesperson for the Australian Transport Safety Bureau said the incident would be investigated.
The matter has been referred to the bureau's head of aviation.
