THE bold kaleidoscopic colour palette of Perth artist Anya Brock will inject life into Bunbury’s CBD as part of upcoming street art project, Re.Discover.
Brock will take part in the project which will see large-scale murals created on selected exterior building walls throughout the CBD in January.
The Re.Discover concept was created by Bunbury artist Andrew Frazer in a bid to encourage residents and visitors to take another look at the CBD and celebrate art in a walking exhibition.
Brock started and ran high-end fashion label Anan for eight years and discovered her love of painting while working in London.
She returned to her hometown of Perth in 2011 and her work became more and more visible, decorating some of the city’s most popular spots with bright and cheerful murals and finding their way onto the walls of Subiaco and Fremantle art galleries.
Making her New York debut as a winner of the 2012 Stoli ORGNLtv competition, Brock’s work began attracting international attention for its striking beauty, playfully contradictory titles and jazz-like use of geometry.
Brock will join West Australian artists Stormie Mills, Kyle Hughes-Odgers, Jodee Knowles and Bunbury artists Tim Howe and Andrew Frazer in the painting and exhibiting of six murals.
Re.Discover will take place from January 15 to 18, ending with a group exhibition at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries on January 18 from 6pm to 9pm.
