A MAN described as one of Australia’s leading young visual artists will make up one-sixth of a street art project set to hit Bunbury in January.
Kyle Hughes-Odgers is set to make his mark on the South West city after exhibiting and creating public artwork throughout Australia and internationally, including New York, London and Hong Kong.
The acclaimed artist was invited to take part in Bunbury’s first street art project called Re.Discover, which will be held from January 15 to 18.
Businesses in the CBD have signed up to have their exterior walls transformed by six established West Australian artists in a walking street art exhibition.
The large-scale murals will be created on exterior building walls throughout the CBD to provide residents and visitors a unique opportunity to celebrate art.
The event will encourage viewers to walk through and gain a newfound appreciation for the city centre.
Bunbury artist and event creator Andrew Frazer said the project was a first for the South West and it would put Bunbury on the creative radar.
He said he hoped to develop the project into an annual event where the streets of Bunbury's CBD would literally fill up with art, helping to develop a national and international reputation.
Hughes-Odgers will join West Australian artists Anya Brock, Stormie Mills, Jodee Knowles and Bunbury artists Tim Howe and Andrew Frazer in the painting and exhibiting of six murals.
Re.Discover will take place from January 15 to 18, ending with a group exhibition at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries on January 18 from 6pm to 9pm.
