THE atmosphere was subdued in Bunbury this morning when voting kicked off for a second attempt at the WA Senate election.
In February the High Court ruled that WA would return to the polls for a new Senate election, after last September's result was declared void.
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) petitioned the court asking for the Senate results to be discounted after 1,370 votes could not be found for a recount.
The mystery of the missing votes still perplexed Bunbury voters.
During interviews with the Bunbury Mail many questioned the electoral system for losing so many without explanation.
Polls opened at 8am AWST around the state and will close at 6pm.
