WORKSHOP: Kids of Greater Bunbury have an opportunity to join the circus and take part in a game show this school holidays, for a few days at least.
Performance group SPLAT! is set to host a ‘have a go’ circus workshops and a kids game show at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre later this month.
From April 12 to 15, the ‘have a go’ workshops will include juggling, unicycle, spinning plates, hula hoops and other circus activities.
The workshops are open to all Year 3 to high school aged students.
SPLAT! performer Renee Pilkington said the activities were all about engaging kids to have a go at performing circus skills.
“What we are trying to demonstrate in the show is that it’s okay to take calculated risks and have a go,” Ms Pilkington said.
Workshops participants will also have the opportunity to demonstrate their new skills live on stage during the interactive game show on April 16.
It’s a Kids Game Show mixes circus antics, live music and the chaos of a game show to entertain the kid’s participating.
Three contestants battle it out on stage at one time.
Ms Pilkington said the kids not participating as contestants also have input into who wins and losses.
“It is definitely a theatre show for family and kids. Every time there is a new version of SPLAT! we do a new twist.”
She said she would also play a big role in directing the show on the day.
“I love working with kids and who wouldn’t love the chance to be on stage to make people happy and do an event that ends with the crowd getting some mess of them.”
Workshop cost $50 per participant, with game show tickets and enrolment also available from bunburyentertainme nt.com or at the box office.
