After last season it’s impossible for tipsters to leave Eaton out of their number one spot.
The Boomers were an absolute force dropping only one game last year and they have maintained a majority of their squad.
A lot of run generates from their midfield and half back line with players like Gino Catalano, Josh Bowe, Blake Piggott, Jye Cormack, Chris Atthowe and plenty more providing the ability to break through the lines.
The list of high quality players for Eaton is as long as it’s ever been.
Former WAFL player Kane Bloxsidge will also take to the field this year after struggling with injuries last season.
Jacob Ferrier has departed the club after a stellar season down forward but Eaton still boasts many other avenues for scoring.
Leigh Kelly will remain the number one target while Rohan Lily and Jace Cormack have both been known to affect the score.
The Boomers may struggle in ruck contests without youngster Joshua Branchi this season but Brendan Page showed in 2012 he was more than capable of dominating a game in the ruck.
The most positive thing for Eaton is not just that their starting line-up is the strongest in the league but the depth of good young players they have coming through the ranks is second to none.
New head coach Richard Barnard could prove a good move for the Boomers with a fresh face and fresh tactics keeping the players focussed.
It won’t be done as easily as last year, but it certainly looks like Eaton has what it takes to retain top spot and challenge for back-to-back premierships.
