A ROUTINE curfew check on Tuesday, July 22 lead Esperance police to a homemade and dangerous weapon.
Police attended an address in Pink Lake at 9pm to perform a routine curfew check on a 29-year-old male.
After leaving the house, police pulled over an unrelated vehicle to perform a random breath test and search.
While occupied with the RBT, police recognised a vehicle belonging to the 29-year-old man on curfew drive onto Pink Lake Road.
Police stopped the man, performed an RBT and searched the car, confiscating cash, a bong and a home made mace.
From information provided by the man, police stopped another vehicle belonging to a 25-year-old woman.
Esperance police officer in charge Senior Seargent Richard Moore said police believed the pair were meeting up to "do a buy".
He said the 29-year-old man would attend Kalgoorlie Court via video link on Wednesday, July 23 and the female would be summoned at a later date.
Sen Sgt Moore said the situation was of concern to police as people were driving around with weapons that could cause serious injury or death.
"We don't want people driving around under the influence of alcohol or drugs," he said.
Sen Sgt Moore said there would be an increase in vehicles stopped by police for breath tests and car searches to stop such crimes occurring in Esperance.
