IT takes a lot of work to be the best looking dog on the street.
According to Bunbury dog groomer Laura Raabe, a stylish pooch needs the right cut, a healthy coat, healthy nails and an attitude to match.
The Powdered Pup mobile grooming salon owner hit the road last week after six months converting her van.
Mrs Raabe said her love of dog grooming led her to start the boutique service.
“I’ve been grooming for seven years – I started out making dog accessories for my mother’s business and wanted to branch out,” Mrs Raabe said.
A Perth Royal Show state champion dog groomer, she has represented WA at the Australian Royal Grooming Championships.
“Dogs are just like us, after a wash and spruce up they feel fantastic and they know they look it too.”

She said there was big distinction between a dog wash and dog groomer.
“I apply what I learnt becoming a master groomer with my clients, it’s not as simple as getting a pair of scissors and cutting – it needs to be done right,” she said.
The van is equipped with a dog bath, grooming table, hot water system, air conditioning, hair dryers and primping equipment.
Mrs Raabe said dogs got a lot of enjoyment out of being groomed.
“I like to groom the dog in a comfortable and stress free environment – afterwards they are always so happy and how love their parents fuss over them.”

She plans to tour the South West to provide grooming to clients that wouldn’t otherwise have access to it.
