Northcliffe and Windy Harbour families have fled to an emergency refuge in Pemberton in the wake of bushfires engulfing their communities.
More than 80 people have so far sought safety in the emergency welfare centre being managed by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support.
The centre is operating at the Pemberton Sports Club for people who have fled their homes due to the bushfires.
CPFS director general Emma White said people were being provided with food, care and accommodation.
Ms White said the department was providing essential clothing, toiletry packs and pharmaceuticals, meals, counselling and referrals to other support networks.

"If people need assistance, department staff can be easily identified wearing clearly marked purple vests," Ms White said.
To let your family and friends know you are safe, register your attendance at the evacuation centre with the department or Red Cross staff, or online at www.redcross.org.au.
