LETTER TO THE EDITOR: I have just read your article in the February 4 edition of the Bunbury Mail talking about the proposal to bring a new small bar to the CBD.
I am from Spain and this form of entertainment is very usual there.
The people after work usually meet there to talk, you can meet with new people, you can share and discuss many different things while you’re drinking some beers and having tapas.
Also if you have other small bars opened you can move around them, so all business can be happy and the alcohol level may decrease because people are eating as well as drinking.
The population in Bunbury is growing and people are demanding different forms of entertainment, so please allow the opportunity to have new small bars and tapas bars to the CBD.
These can allow the opportunity for new entrepreneurs to arrive to Bunbury if the community is demanding new forms of entertainment, different prices, more variety.
All important cities around the Australia have this kind of entertainment – Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane – why not Bunbury?
In my opinion also, you can’t reduce the alcohol problem by not allowing the opening of new bars, you can reduce the alcohol problem educating the people from the schools.
Mon Barrero, Bunbury.
