THE West Coast Eagles have visited Bunbury as part of their Regional Players tour.
Brownlow Medallist Matt Priddis lead the group of AFL players including Callum Sinclair, Chris Masten and Rowen Powell.
West Coast Eagles offensive coach, Daniel Pratt is part of the tour informing students about training schedules, nutrition, preparation for a game and recovery after the game.
The players spoke about the training schedules and the relationship they had with their coaches.
"When they (coaches) go hard at you, you know they are doing it for a reason, so that's good" said Mr Priddis.
The students at Manea Senior College were lucky enough to be one of the first schools to hear the wise words of the AFL players and had the opportunity to ask questions.
The players answered questions about how budding football players could be drafted to the AFL and discussed how they had been drafted to the Eagles.
Mr Priddis gave advice on how best to prepare for a game, he said "be consistent for preparation and you will be consistent with your game".
Players discussed things about the game they most enjoyed and the bond they had with their teammates off the field.
Mr Sinclair said that he enjoyed coming up against challenging opponents, "I like coming up against guys who are established AFL players".
Being an AFL footballer has it perks, but there are a lot of setbacks to the lifestyle such as injuries and making sure they create enough personal and family time.
They said it is important to always be switched on, be elite in their preparation and have common sense whilst building mental resilience.
Next in the schedule, apart from more pre-season training, is the derby and they said it is what they most look forward to at the start of the year.
