Former Richmond forward Jake King is reportedly suing the AFL for compensation in relation to the foot injuries which ended his career.
A Footy Show report referenced games against the Western Bulldogs in round three, 2014, and West Coast in round 10, 2013 as the matches in which the injuries were sustained. The match against the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium was the final game of King's 107-match career, with the former mature-age rookie retiring midway through last season at 30.
"I don't want to comment about the specifics of my situation but I would like to thank the AFLPA who have been outstanding in looking after players on these matters," King told Channel Nine on Thursday night.
The report claimed that the AFL Players Association is acting on behalf of King.
Fairfax Media have contacted the AFL, who say they will not comment until receiving a submission from King.
