THE South West Football League won their fifth consecutive Landmark Country Football Championships division one title on Sunday when they beat the Upper Great Southern Football League to the tune of 40 points.

A best on ground performance from Eaton Boomers young gun Denholm King saw the SWFL to a brilliant 13.6.84 to 7.2.44 victory – topping off another successful carnival.
South West head coach Jamie Nani, who was awarded the Dick Smith memorial award for being the best coach at the carnival, said the side was elated with the win.
“We are really happy with the win – it was a real team effort,” he said.
“The boys clicked like they’d been playing together all year and it was a real sight to see.”
Nani described being named coach of the carnival as humbling.
“It was a real honour to be named best coach,” he said.
“It probably speaks more about how well the side performed as a team but it was nice to be given the award.”
The SWFL started their campaign for a fifth consecutive flag in perfect fashion, claiming a comfortable win over the Avon Football Association in their first match.
Jace Cormack, who finished with 12 goals for the carnival, booted five majors to see the SWFL to a 12.5.77 to 3.3.21 victory.

But the league side suffered their only loss of the carnival in their second game, going down to UGSFL 1.4.10 to 3.8.26.
After their disappointing performance to end day one, the SWFL was keen to make amends on day two against the rival Peel Football League.
Cormack booted another bag with four goals while Graham Jetta dominated the midfield on route to a 9.2.56 to 4.6.30 victory.
Their final game of the regular fixture came as a crucial one against the Great Northern Football League, as a loss would have seen the South West out of grand final contention.
Fortunately, the green and gold brigade managed to avoid the loss, finishing the game in a draw.
Jetta and Parry performed strongly again while Hamish Shepheard played well to help his side a 7.4.46 to 7.4.46 tie.
In the final, UGSFL was no match for the South West.
The SWFL had a number of people finish with multiple goals as they cruised to victory.
Matt Martin and King bagged three goals each, while Cormack (two), Jetta (two), David Roche (two) and Corey Griggs (one) all hit the scoreboard.
Cormack (Eaton), Jetta (Carey Park), Tropiano (Bunbury), Parry (Donnybrook) and Chris Andrew (South Bunbury) were all named in the all-star side.
Jetta was also awarded the Jock Coleman trophy given to the best player throughout the entire carnival.
