A police officer was sliced by his own knife during a violent brawl with a woman in Bunbury on Monday night.
About 9.30pm, officers were called to Vat 2 restaurant on Jetty Road where a 24-year-old woman was allegedly acting in a disorderly fashion.
The woman was allegedly drinking other people's wine and exposing herself.
After speaking with the officers in the car park, police say she took off on foot.
The woman was caught by an officer and a violent struggle broke out before she allegedly reached for his firearm and Taser.
While the wrestle continued, police say the woman managed to take a knife from the officer's belt before attempting to stab and cut him.
The officer received cuts to his fingers and a bite to the arm as he grabbed the knife from the woman.
Shortly afterward, the woman was taken to the station and allegedly continued to fight officers. Paramedics were called to sedate her.
The woman remains in hospital. It will be several weeks before charges are laid due to her health condition.
