GIG: This guy has tried his hand in many entertainment fields and is loved by audiences around Australia and New Zealand.
In 2009 he won Australian Idol and released his first single Black Box and this year, seven albums later, released Truth and Soul.
Stan Walker is an R n B pop singer from New Zealand and will make his first appearance in Bunbury at the Prince of Wales Hotel on Wednesday, November 4.
When I spoke to him ahead of the show he was excited to be coming down to perform his latest music.
“I can’t wait to come to Bunbury because I have family there and I have always wanted to tour there,” Walker said.
“I am looking forward to being on stage with my own fans because there is something special about that.”
Walker said the show he is bringing to Bunbury is going to be like nothing Australia has seen before, with lots of dancing from hip hop champions and high energy music.
“I just love being on stage with my dancers and making music people can enjoy,” Walker said.
He has not only been busy working on his latest album but he has also been shooting a movie and working on The X Factor New Zealand.
Walker has been a judge and mentor on The X Factor New Zealand since 2013.
He said it had been a lot of fun shooting the latest movie, Born to Dance had really inspired his next season of music.
Walker plays the lead role, Benjy, in Born to Dance which is a coming of age story told through the eyes of an ambitious young man from Auckland who dreams of being a professional hip-hop dancer.
In February 2013 he made his debut in acting when he played the lead role of Turei in the feature film Mt Zion.
“Acting taps into a different type of creativity, which was refreshing, and mentoring other artists on X Factor helped me to step up to tackle all the different aspects of my own career,” Walker said.
“It has been quite a full on year with X Factor and making another film, I have been travelling all over the place.”
The troupe joining him in Bunbury have been hard at work on their performances and two weeks out from the tour will come together for the first time.
Walker said things always came together and he was really looking forward to showing Bunbury the latest moves from the crew.
You can catch him at the Prince of Wales Hotel on Wednesday, November 4.
