A number of runners battled trying conditions to compete in the Bunbury Runner’s Club HBF Three Waters Running Festival on Sunday morning.
A swirling breeze and light rain added an extra dimension of difficulty to the run with six different events on offer.
Tony Smith was the first of 47 runners to finish the ultra marathon in a time of 3:32.50 with Martine Nield the field woman to cross the line.
More than 120 people took on the marathon event with Chris O’Neill first in a time of 2:39.58. Kylie Durward was the first woman in 3:03.03
Roberto Busi opened up a big gap in the half marathon to beat home the field by more than four minutes. The first woman to cross the line was Joanna Turner in fifth.
A small field of 13 took on the half marathon walk with Garry Hastie the first to cross the line narrowly ahead of Charlotte Rumney.
Richard Palumbo broke the 40 minutes mark on the 10 kilometre run with Clare Wardle the first female over the line.
Bailey Taylor easily accounted for the field in the five kilometre run in just over 16 minutes with the first woman Jessie Eltringham not far behind.
