After we saw the Bunbury Wildlife Park had received a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence, the Bunbury Mail decided to pay the park acting manager Lucy Wiseman and the animals a visit.
Ms Wiseman gave us a guided tour around the park starting with their cute but very untouchable Tiger Quoll, Zeus.
Then on to give the emus a pat and a feed but not before passing some thoroughly relaxed kangaroos.
The park has done a lot of growing over the years, evolving from the bird park to the wildlife park, housing over 50 species of animals including birds, marsupials, reptiles and amphibians.
It’s now not hard to see why the park received a certificate of excellence, an honor Ms Wiseman said is a fantastic step for Bunbury tourism.
“I think it’s just a really great recognition of the hard work from staff and volunteers, providing a great experience in Bunbury,”
“TripAdvisor is an internationally website which is kind of a bible for many travellers so it’s important for us because it puts us on the map and drives business, and drives tourism in Bunbury in general.”
To gain a TripAdvisor certificate of excellance, Ms Wiseman said a business must maintain a high standard.
“Our staff and volunteers all put in a lot of effort to keep the animals happy and the place clean, everyone from the front counter to our animal handlers are always happy and that’s a massive part to making the park a wonderful place to be,” she said.
Certificate of Excellence recipients include accommodations, eateries and attractions located all over the world that have continually delivered a quality customer experience.
Visitors can also picnic in the park or enjoy a tasty lunch, coffee or snack from the onsite café.
The Bunbury Visitor Centre also received a certificate of excellence from TripAdvisor.
The Bunbury Wildlife Park is located at the Big Swamp Parkland, Prince Philip Drive Bunbury and is open seven days from 10 am to 5 pm.
