St George/Illawarra Dragons V Gold Coast Titans – Friday night, Jubilee Oval @ 7.50pm
Both teams are coming off a bye and didn’t they need it. The Dragons found out that Brookvale Oval can still be a dangerous place to visit after the Sea Eagles put 32 points on them before they were able to put a point on the board themselves. The Titans had their opportunities but couldn’t go with the Warriors in the final twenty of their game two weeks ago. A Top 8 spot is up for grabs here so both teams will be up for this, but we like the Dragons back at home.
TopBetta Tip: DRAGONS
Suggested Tournament Bets:
HT/FT: Dragons/Dragons @ $2.25 – Will be a close game but the Dragons should keep their noses in front for most of it.
Margin: Dragons (1-12) @ $2.80 – Not much between them, but the Dragons should do enough.
First Try Scorer: Gareth Widdop @ $13.00 – An outsider but has proven he knows how to find the line early on.
Manly Sea Eagles V New Zealand Warriors – Saturday night, nib Stadium @ 5.30pm
We’re on our way to Perth for this one between the two teams who defeated the Friday night teams. So, they’re both last start winners, but when it comes to nib Stadium the Warriors are anything but winners. In four games in Perth, the Warriors are yet to win a game. Manly have never been so they are an unknown. But if the Dragons shellacking is anything to go by, maybe Trent Barrett has got the right formula going.
TopBetta Tip: SEA EAGLES
Suggested Tournament Bets:
Match Result (DRAW NO BET INC. OVERTIME): Sea Eagles @ $1.98 – Manly looked good last game and we’re in Perth.
Margin: Sea Eagles (1-2) @ $3.00 – High scoring affair but not one-sided.
First Try Scorer: Jorge Taufua @ $8.00 – Big Jorge loves an early try and Manly like to give him one.
South Sydney Rabbitohs V Brisbane Broncos – Saturday night, ANZ Stadium @ 7.30pm
The Origin period hasn’t been kind to Brisbane so far in that they have only won once since Origin Game One against the Raiders back in Round 14. Coach Wayne Bennett hasn’t been too fussed about the slump though as he apparently planned for it. Well, now that all of his Origin players are back, the Broncos faithful are hoping the ‘Great One’ is right. The Rabbitohs have had a wretched season and it doesn’t look like it is going to turnaround anytime soon. They have been guilty of shooting themselves in the foot more than anyone this year and it has cost them. It’s not a matter of how many errors they make, it is a matter of when they make them. The Broncos eat that stuff up.
TopBetta Tip: BRONCOS
Suggested Tournament Bets:
Handicap (No Draw): Brisbane (-5.5) @ $1.91 – Expecting the Broncos to be ruthless.
Margins: Brisbane (13+) @ $2.60 – As above
First Try Scorer: Anthony Milford @ $8.50 – The MILF has been quiet but we expect him to run a lot more in this one.
Newcastle Knights V Melbourne Storm – Sunday afternoon, Hunter Stadium @ 2.00pm
The Knights keep ‘learning’ from game to game according to coach Nathan Brown. And he’s right, they are learning a lot this season. If they learnt a lot from the Raiders a couple of weeks ago, just imagine how much the Storm are going to teach them. Talk about the ‘School of Hard Knocks’.
TopBetta Tip: STORM
Suggested Tournament Bets:
Handicap (No Draw): Melbourne (-18.5) @ $1.91 – Not sure anyone is playing better than the Storm right now.
Highest Scoring Half: 2nd Half @ $1.75 – Damage will be done in the first half and the rewards will come in the second.
First Try Scorer: Suliasi Vunivalu @ $5.00 – Leads the comp in tries, may well get more than one here.
Penrith Panthers V Parramatta Eels – Sunday afternoon, Pepper Stadium @ 4.00pm
Another week and another scandal for the Eels. The Panthers couldn’t care less though as they were embarrassed last week by a Cronulla team that was talent poor but defence rich. The Panthers didn’t have any answers to the Sharks’ rugged defence last week but they may well have a few more opportunities against the Eels. However, the Eels are on a mission now that the NRL has acted (finally) and they know what they have to do to play finals footy. They’re still a dangerous team after all, as was proven last week against the Roosters. A word of warning though: if Corey Norman is involved in a video ref moment, let’s just hope The Bunker plays the right video.
TopBetta Tip: EELS
Suggested Tournament Bets:
Match Result: Parramatta @ $2.40 – Last week won’t be easy for the Panthers to get up from. Eels solidarity should win out.
First Team to Score a Try: Penrith @ $1.65 – Expect the Panthers to come out all guns blazing.
First Try Scorer: Dallin Watene Zelezniak @ $7.00 – Is a real talent and loves a try.
Sydney Roosters V Cronulla Sharks – Monday night, Allianz Stadium @ 7.00pm
The Roosters and Sharks are coming into this game from very different angles. The Roosters are trying to find their first win in five attempts and the Sharks are looking for their 14th win on the trot. To put it simply, the Roosters shouldn’t have lost against the Eels last week. Leading 18-6 after only 10 minutes in the second half should mean that you go on and destroy the opposition. Instead, Manu Ma’u beat them and brought his Eels with him. The Sharks defended their backside off against the Panthers last week, and that won them the game. Their Origin players are back here, so get ready for a good old fashioned Monday Night massacre.
TopBetta Tip: SHARKS
Suggested Tournament Bets:
Handicap (No Draw): Cronulla (-6.5) @ $1.91 – Expecting the Sharks to be clinical here.
Margin: Cronulla (13+) @ $2.40 – As above.
First Try Scorer: Ben Barba @ $8.00 – In super form at the moment. If he doesn’t score it, he’ll probably set it up.
