The South West is set to notice improved infrastructure and services after the state government confirmed a number of successful grant recipients under the Regional Grants Scheme.
The scheme, which is an initiative of the Liberal National government’s Royalties for Regions program, provides funding to community, public and not-for-profit organisations.
Regional Development minister Terry Redman said the state government would invest $10 million in the scheme in 2016/17 by offering grants between $50,001 and $300,000.
“This round of grants will provide $1,541,738 towards 12 projects for the South West region,” Mr Redman said.
“In addition to the Regional Grants Scheme, Royalties for Regions has made some major investments in the region, such as the Busselton-Margaret River Regional Airport development and Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project.”
Bunbury MLA John Castrilli presented three of the successful grants on Wednesday afternoon including $199,871 for a complete renovation of the City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club kitchen.
Mr Castrilli said the club’s kitchen would evolve into a modern catering and dining facility with an outdoor alfresco area and a coolroom.
