A new St John Ambulance sub centre and first aid training facility officially opened in Boyanup on Saturday, October 8.
Capel-Boyanup St John Ambulance volunteer Kevin Williams said the new facility on Turner Street was a “big step-up” with parking bays for two ambulances, bathroom and kitchen facilities for overnight stays.
The new facility was made possible with Royalties for Regions funds of $147,000 from the South West Development Commission as well as contributions from Capel, Harvey, Donnybrook and Manjimup centres valued at over $66,000.
“With the new centre, we’re hoping to attract new volunteers and get more work out of the centre,” Mr Williams said.
“We are now in a better position to service the community by being able to do more shifts and being more available to the community.”
St John CEO Tony Ahern congratulated Mr Williams, who recently was awarded St John Ambulance Volunteer of the Year, for being a driving force behind the project and for his hardwork ethic.
