When it comes to entertainment, arts and culture in Bunbury the same names pop-up time and time again as pioneers of Bunbury’s fledgling entertainment industry.
It’s no different this time around with Bunbury Fringe 2017 – the first fringe festival for the city – as Good Nights’ Kelsie Miller and Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre’s ex-general manager Joel McGuinness team up to bring the seven day festival to the CBD.
The festival kicks off in February with events scattered around the CBD at iconic Bunbury locations including the Rose Hotel, Yours or Mine, Maker and Co and this year’s festival hub the Good Earth Surf Shop.
Mr McGuinness said like all good ideas the spark for Bunbury Fringe came about over a glass of wine with Ms Miller and they’re now equally excited and terrified at their new venture.
“It’s a massive undertaking, but we love Bunbury and our goal is to present our city in a way that celebrates how awesome it is,” Mr McGuinness said.
“After leaving BREC and becoming involved with council I was thinking about how I could make an impact on the CBD and this is a positive first step.”
Ms Miller said Bunbury’s Fringe Festival felt like the organic progression from Good Nights.
“The idea is that the festival will get bigger each year and become a staple event that people look forward to,” she said. Tickets can be found at bunburyfringe.com along with an official downloadable program with information on all the acts.
