Bunbury has a new fire station with Emergency Services minister Joe Francis opening the $7.2 million facility on Thursday morning.
The Bunbury station will house 43 operational firefighters with a minimum of eight rostered on duty, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Mr Francis said the new Bunbury station included a decontamination system, specialised training areas, a rescue training tower and an advanced security and monitoring system.
"This facility ensures our firefighters are well equipped for years to come to serve and protect a growing Bunbury community,” he said.
"The Bunbury station's location also means crews will be able to quickly respond to help volunteer and bushfire brigades across the South West."
Emergency Services Commissioner Wayne Gregson said the new facilities are absolutely state-of-the-art.
“Bunbury is expanding and there is increased need for emergency services and hazard management,” he said.
“The number of incidents that have been attended by firefighters in Bunbury has almost doubled in recent years.
‘This facility will put them in the best possible position to respond to their needs.”
The station is the 10th career and volunteer emergency services facility built or upgraded by the government since 2008.
