“Questions I usually ask my customers are: ‘What are you going to use the motorcycle for? What style of motorcycle do you like? What is your budget?’ Answers to these questions can help steer you in the right direction and get you seated on your motorcycle sooner.”

In most riders’ cases, they already know what they want, it just comes down to searching around.

“Get in contact with friends in the industry, motorcycle clubs or custom shops to get their advice,” he said.

What about the price? Budget can be a determining factor for most riders.

The price of a motorcycle depends on what you’re looking for.

From a two-hundred-dollar basket-case to a $100,000 Ducati Desmosedici, prices can range as far and wide as your passion leads.

“‘What are you looking for? What type of riding will you be doing? Will the vintage beast be up for commuting or will I need to compromise with something more modern?’

“These are questions that will get you closer to the cost involved and help you realise if your budget is too low and you need to compromise a little or if you even have one in the first place, then buy whatever you want,” Faidon says.

Market values are a great starting point, but keep in mind these are not always correct and can either make you seem like a fool, low balling the seller or the seller can be seen as a dreamer.
