Thanks to a Lotterywest grant, South West Community Legal Centre will continue to deliver legal and mediation services to disadvantaged and vulnerable members of the South West community.
A recent funding grant allowed the centre to purchase a vehicle which will transport staff to the centre’s eight regional outreach locations across the South West.
Centre chief executive officer Julie-ann Lorca said the vehicle will ensure clients in smaller regional towns can continue to access the same quality legal services that are offered from the Bunbury office.
“This grant has come at an important time for us as community legal centres across the nation face the prospect of significant funding cuts from July 1,” she said.
“The new vehicle will not only enhance our capacity to manage costs, it will also offer consistent access to a work vehicle for staff to travel to outreach locations.”
South West Community Legal Centre began as Bunbury Community Legal Centre in June 1989 and provides free legal advice and mediation services to more than 1600 vulnerable and disadvantaged community members each year.
