An Esperance teenager has been charged following the death of an elderly man overnight.
WA Police will allege the 18-year-old woman and 89-year-old man became involved in an altercation at a residence on Randell Street in Esperance at around 4pm on Tuesday evening.
It is believed the man and the woman were known to each other, and the man suffered serious head injuries during the fight.
He was taken to Esperance District Hospital for emergency treatment, but died a short time later as a result of serious sustained head injuries.
Police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said Major Crime Squad officers from Perth would attend the scene on Wednesday morning, and the young woman had been charged with grievous bodily harm.
She is due to appear before Esperance Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
