Bunbury Wildlife Park wants to hear from anyone who has been involved in the popular tourist attraction since its inception in 1986 to help tell the park’s story as part of a planned history display.
Community members who have either worked or volunteered at the park, or people who have special memories of their visits, are encourage to come forward with photos, newspaper clippings or other memorabilia.
The park is keen to create the history display in the old wooden barn owl enclosure and acting manager tourism, events and Wildlife Park Isabell Evans said the community’s contribution would be a key to its success.
“The park opened in 1986 as the Big Swamp Bird Park and over the past 30 years the unique experience it offers has been enjoyed by people from Bunbury, WA, interstate and around the world,” Ms Evans said.
“There are many stories to be told and it is these memories from the thousands of visitors that we want to capture.
“Many volunteers have also given up their time to make the park the success it is today and we would especially like to hear from these people.”
Bunbury Wildlife Park is visited by over 32,000 people per year and boasts a wide range of animals, including more than 60 species of birds, kangaroos, a wombat, reptiles and other animals.
