Bunbury bodybuilders clean up at national championships

It was the first time Perth has hosted the Australasian Natural Bodybuilding (ANB) Ms Fitness Australia event and Bunbury’s Natasha Lovell and Sara Richards impressed on the national stage.

Women came from all over Australia to compete in bodybuilding season A’s final competition and show off their hot bods.

Sara Richards placed first in the Fitness Under 25 category and Natasha Lovell took home a bronze for the Fitness Over 35 category, and a fifth place for the Theme Wear category.

Trainer Zoltan Matrof said he was proud of his girls, who were amazing on stage.

“[Sara] brought her physique to the next level,” he said.

“And Natasha was in a category with a strong lineup so she well deserved her third place.

“You could say the Bunbury girls took it to the next level.”

The competition was only the second event for Richards and the third event for 37-year-old Lovell, with Matrof confident that both girls have big future potential on stage.

The Bunbury women recently took to the stage for the I Compete Natural (ICN) WA State Championships where they also brought home plenty of prized silverware.

Lovell won gold for Ms Sports Model 30+ and silver for Ms Sports Model Momma, as well as placing third for Ms Fitness Momma and fifth for Ms Fitness 30+.

Richards placed first in Ms Sports Model First Timers and Overall Sports Model, second in Ms Fitness Model First Timer and Ms Fitness Model Novice and fifth in Ms Fitness Open.

Lovell said she might consider a break from bodybuilding now for a while.

“I’m thinking I might have a rest after June and try for season B next year so September 2018 but we’ll see because I always get the bug to do it again,” she said.

“Your body needs to have a break, it’s not something you can consistently do but it’s a full on thing for your body so you do need recovery time – still train but not so intensely.”
