Bunbury is set to brace for more rainfall in the coming days with more than 40 millimetres recorded in the past two days.
To date in August, 54.8 millimetres of rain have been recorded, 30 of which fell on Wednesday. Rain has fallen in Bunbury on 25 of the past 29 days.
The average rainfall for August in Bunbury is 118.4 millimetres.
Wednesday’s deluge caused the banks of the Brunswick River to break in Australind, submerging a bike path popular with students at Australind Senior High School.
The school took to social media on Wednesday afternoon to urge parents to speak to their children about the dangers flood water can present.
A light shower or two is forecast for Thursday but a 100 per cent chance of rain Friday afternoon and evening is predicted.
Rain is forecast as a 95 per cent chance for both Saturday and Sunday with winds predicted to peak at 50 kilometres an hour.
The long range forecast has rain set to continue until at least Wednesday.
