Resources are boosting the Queensland economy, with the state recording record LNG exports over the past year.
Data released on Friday shows LNG exorts from Queensland in 2017 totalled 20.2 million tonnes, eclipsing the 2016 record by 2.7 million tonnes.
Queensland Resources Council chief executive Ian Macfarlane said the LNG sector was forecast to continue its record export growth, driven by energy-hungry Asia.
"China was again the largest customer, receiving nearly 11.6 million tonnes, followed by South Korea at 4 million tonnes, while Japan imported 2.5 million tonnes," he said.
Mr Macfarlane said Queensland was in a prime position to be a major player in the global coal exports over the next year.
Queensland's Mid-Year Fiscal and Economic Review predicted coal royalties would contribute $3.16 billion to the state's coffers in 2017-18.
Coal had been on track for a record export year in 2017 until rail and port infrastructure was disrupted when Cyclone Debbie hit in March, Mr Macfarlane said.
Coal exports last year reached 210.8 million tonnes, which was down 10 million tonnes - or 5 per cent - from the previous year's record of 220.8 million tonnes.
"The fall in coal is due to Cyclone Debbie severely damaging infrastructure and according to Queensland Treasury, the cyclone decreased coal exports by 11 million tonnes," Mr Macfarlane said.
"In other words, in the absence of the cyclone, Queensland coal exports would have reached another volume record."
Mr Macfarlane said Queensland coal was exported to at least 37 countries, including in the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
Queensland LNG was exported to nine countries last year.
The data was collated by the Queensland Resources Council from sources including the Gladstone Ports Corporation, IHS Markit and Queensland government open data.
