Two Bunbury citizens were placed on the 2018 Australia Day Honours List for their dedication to the community.

Former Member for Bunbury John Castrilli and John Sherwood received the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division on Australia Day.

Mr Castrilli said he was delighted to be receiving such a prestigious award.

“It’s a great honour, it’s something I am still trying to get used to and it’s quite a humbling experience,” he said.

“Could never have done the things that I did without the support of my wife, my family and the staff that were with me for all of those years.”

Mr Castrilli served as Member for Bunbury from 2005 up until his retirement last year.

Mr Sherwood was acknowledged for his efforts to improve indigenous services.
