The Bunbury United Soccer Club is reflecting upon five decades of sporting highlights and community support.
To celebrate its 50th birthday, the club will host an anniversary ball at the Lighthouse Beach Resort on Saturday, April 7 for past and present members, families and players.
Club secretary Claire Reimers said the event will look back proudly on 50 years of achievements.
“The club was founded by a family and built on family values, so the night will bring everyone together,” she said.
“Throughout the past 50 years we’ve been able to cater for everyone and all family members.
“We’ve been able to maintain teams across all age groups and cater for everyone.”
The club was originally founded in 1968 by life member Rocky Calabrese and a handful of followers.
After the Collie Soccer Association disbanded, the South West Soccer Association was formed in 1972.
The club won the league and cup titles as well as the Under 16s’ league championship in the association’s first season.
Bunbury United’s success has continued, with the club’s men’s league side winning the past two South West Soccer Association league titles.
The club also picked up the South West Cup, Pioneers Cup, and Charity Shield in 2016.
The club now features 23 junior teams, three men’s teams, one women’s team and a masters’ division squad.
