Approved at the ordinary meeting of Council on Tuesday, March 20, the plan will serve to monitor the changes to the city over the next 10 years.
In approving the document, the council noted submissions received from the community.
The council also asked for the City’s chief executive officer to alert the public about the plan’s approval.
City of Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan supported the new draft and outlined the potential benefits.
“This plan is just an evolution of our community and shows how much our city is transitioning,” he said.
“There are still some fundamental issues that remain the same but the community wants a safe place and wants us to continue with our growth while protecting the things that are important to them.
"It helps us to sharpen our focus on key issues which have been identified.”
Mr Brennan said the City would focus on “day-to-day” projects as well as long-term investments.
The Mayor confirmed the City would work on several maintenance projects along with a proposal for a playground for Kelly Park.
He also said the widening of Ocean Drive and roadworks on Parade Road have been top priorities.
“From where I sit, I believe we are in a good place. The community is receiving good quality services and at an affordable price. “There is nothing in there that alarms me or is news to me.”
Each proposed plan is divided into four areas: Community and culture, the economy, places and spaces, and the City of Bunbury itself.
The plan, reviewed every two-to-five years, documents the community’s long-term vision and desires.
More than 1500 people took part in the City’s community consultation process, asking participants to voice their ideas.
Mr Brennan confirmed the 2018/19 Budget would factor in changes made to the Strategic Community Plan.
