Black wrote his memoirs, titled Black, with author and publisher Lisa Holland-McNair.
The book is about how the former AFL player overcame his demons of alcohol abuse, anger issues and mental health.
Black was Harvey-Brunswick Leschenault’s coach in 2010 and led them to a premiership.
At the time Black thought he was correctly diagnosed with bipolar.
It was not until seven months ago that Mr Black was also diagnosed with adult ADHD.
“The condition suited playing AFL – it was a natural medication so when I stopped I wreaked havoc,” he said.
Black moved to Bunbury after being arrested three times in a row and realised he needed to get out of the limelight.
The premiership coach became good friends with local Michael Sherry who now sponsors the book.
“He took an interest in men’s health, which was something different for him and became actively involved with my book and the launch,” Black said.
“We have a strong connection.”
During his time in Bunbury, Mr Black also did sport reporting for RadioWest.
