Education minister Liz Constable attended the special event and said the new name was the final step of the rejuvenation process.
“This name change is part of the school’s acknowledgment of the importance of outdoor play in the natural environment in children’s learning,” she said.
Bunbury MLA John Castrilli was also at the event and said he had been working with the school for an upgrade for several years.
“I have enjoyed witnessing and being a part of the exciting developments within Maidens Park Primary School over the years and the school community deserves recognition for being innovative and persistent,” Mr Castrilli said.
Dr Constable said the $1.6 million administration building would play an integral role in how the school looks and operated.
The celebration included a special school assembly with past and present principals attending.
Principal Stuart Cummings said the new name was “not disregarding the past but honouring it.”
Mr Cummings acknowledged school stalwart Betty Pollard who has been working at the school since its opening in 1977.
