A FAMILY of eight has been left devastated after they lost everything in a house fire in Capel yesterday.
The fire started at the Dewar family home on West Road about 3pm.
Mother-of-six Amy Dewar said she was picking up three of her children from school at the time.
Her partner and three other children were at the home when the fire started.
No one was injured in the fire but the children were treated for smoke inhalation.
It took firefighters less than an hour to put the fire out which destroyed the whole home.
Bunbury and Busselton Fire and Rescue Service firefighters attended the fire along with the help of Capel firefighter volunteers.
Western Power was on site to secure power lines.
Mrs Dewar said the family had lived in the home for about one year.
“We have lost everything,” Mrs Dewar said.
“We only have the clothes we are wearing.”
She said the family was not insured.
The mother said she was also concerned for their pet cat and snake that were possibly still inside.
Department of Fire and Emergency services said the cause of the fire was unknown.
A neighbour, who wished not to be named, said she enjoyed living near the family.
“It is devastating because they are just lovely.”
The Bunbury Mail will be taking donations for the family at our office on 78 Blair Street Bunbury or by calling Anne-Maree on 9722 5561. The family consists of five young boys aged 7 to 3 years old and a 7-month-old baby girl.
