COLLIE dog lovers joined communities worldwide in protesting breed-specific legislation last Saturday.
Organiser Dianne Murray said she was leading the campaign in Collie because she feared a blanket ban on certain breeds of dog.
"Legislation is into its second sitting in WA and there will be a vote in September," she said.
"There are petitions against it circulating all around Australia."
Collie man Peter Ferguson said he was angry new laws discriminated against particular breeds without considering the actions of owners.
"I'm livid," he said.
"The government bites us every day a lot more than any dog will.
"If they educated the owners, all dogs would be good."
Mrs Murray said the reality was that bad owners were responsible for raising dangerous dogs and the laws could force the trade onto the black market. "It is the owners who make their dogs want to behave in an aggressive way that are the problem," she said.
"What we don't want is for legislation to put a blanket ban on certain breeds.
"It could get to the point where no dog is allowed."
