And the good work is set to grow with the centre named as a beneficiary for upcoming local fundraiser, Running For Rights.
New gym Jetts Bunbury will host an event which will see teams take to the treadmill for 24 hours to raise money for local initiatives including the PCYC.
Centre youth worker Gary O’Dine said the funds would be welcomed with open arms because they would help to grow programs that were critically important for Bunbury youths.
Hyperspace kicked off late last year, allowing centre staff to work with police and the juvenile justice system to target young people who were committing crime.
There are now about 170 young people involved on a regular basis.
“Hyperspace acts like a drop-in centre where kids can chill out in a comfortable place with no aggression or violence,” Mr O’Dine said.
“Otherwise they would be out on the streets looking for something to do and causing trouble.”
Mr O’Dine said PCYC staff would practice early intervention by targeting people before they ended up in the justice system and helping them to access a network of local services.
Running For Rights will be held at Jetts Bunbury on Blair Street on Saturday, October 19.
Hot FM breakfast presenters Tom and Rosie will provide a broadcast of the event.
